Our Story
Nruthiya Saagaram which means Ocean of Dance, is the First Bharathanatyam dance school in Atlantic Canada. The school was established in 2013.
Guru.Ms.Josephine Nithya Babou has been teaching the art form since 2003. She commenced learning Bharathanatyam under her guru and mother Kalaimamani.
Dr.Lourdes Shanthi from the age of 3. She completed her Arangetram in 2004 and continued to pursue Diploma and Masters in Bharathanatyam from Kalai Kaveri College of Fine Arts, Bharathidasan University, India.
Ms.Nithya moved to Halifax, Canada to pursue her MBA at Sobey School of Business.
Following that she established her dance school and commenced lessons at Halifax Hindu Temple.
Students of Nruthiya Saagaram have performed at various events throughout the province of Nova Scotia. Multicultural Festival of Halifax, Multicultural Festival of Lunenburg, Multicultural Festival of Yarmouth, Spryfield Multicultural, India Fest, International Dance Week hosted by Dance Nova Scotia are few of the events to be named.
